Àlfar Quest

Melodic Power Metal • Fantasy Storytelling • RPG-Inspired Sagaading

Formed in June 2025 by Brazilian and American musicians based across South America, North America, and Europe, Àlfar Quest is a melodic power metal band built around a strong artistic connection to tabletop RPGs, medieval fantasy, and narrative storytelling.

The project began through a collaboration between Carlos Bueno and Max Cruz. What started as a fast composition inspired by modern power metal eventually proved incompatible with the artistic direction of Guilherme Hirose’s solo project, where both musicians were collaborating at the time. Instead of discarding the idea, the song became the foundation for a new and independent band — one conceived from the beginning as its own narrative universe.

Inspired by the structure of tabletop RPG campaigns, Àlfar Quest develops its music as interconnected chapters of a larger saga, featuring original characters, settings, and mythology. To organize and expand this fictional world, the project incorporated Kevin Brown as Quest Writer, a role dedicated to narrative creation, worldbuilding, and the conceptual development of the band's lore.

Musically, the band blends heavy metal with orchestral arrangements and a cinematic approach, drawing influence from bands such as Twilight Force, Stratovarius, Rhapsody, Angra, Wind Rose, and Sabaton.

The name Àlfar Quest reflects this concept by combining “Álfar”, an Old Norse word meaning “elves,” with “Quest,” symbolizing a journey, mission, or adventure — a direct reference to the band’s deep roots in medieval fantasy and role-playing games.

The band’s lineup features Max Cruz on vocals, guitar, and orchestrations, Carlos Bueno on bass, Renan Guerra on guitar, Rafael Braz on keyboards (also keyboardist of the band Enorios), and Kevin Brown, responsible for the creation of the narrative universe and the development of the band's mythology.
